Need help with RSMS?

To nominate a skilled worker under the direct entry stream, the employer must be assessed by a regional certifying body. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) requires an assessment outcome from a regional certifying body before they will finalise an application for employer nomination.

To be assessed as successful, the employer must demonstrate the following criteria to the RCB:

  • There is a genuine need for a paid employee in the nominator's business for the nominated position.

  • The position cannot be filled locally by an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

  • The terms and conditions of employment are the same as those that would be offered to an Australian citizen or permanent resident performing the same tasks at the same location.

  • The occupation is ANZSCO skill levels 1–3. Occupations with ANZSCO skill levels 4 or 5 are not eligible for the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS).

Skilled Migration Western Australia (SMWA) is the RCB for Western Australia (excluding the Goldfields–Esperance region).

To be assessed by SMWA:

Once assessment has been completed, the employer will receive an email with the outcome and a signed Form 1404 which is then used in the application to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
