Terms and Conditions - Skilled Migrant Employment Register

The Skilled Migrant Employment Register (SMER) is an initiative designed to support WA employers to connect with skilled migrants to build their workforce. 

It is important to note that the WA Government has particular obligations and other conditions that are important for any prospective client to be aware of.

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully, so you are aware of your obligations for the Skilled Migrant Employment Register.

Terms and conditions for Skilled Migrants

By completing a registration, you confirm you genuinely have the skills and knowledge stated in your registration and agree to use the Skilled Migrant Employment Register for its intended purpose.

  • Registration for the Skilled Migrant Employment Register must be submitted via the Migration WA portal.

  • Providing false or misleading information may result in your registration being withdrawn.

  • Registrations that are deemed not to align with the purpose of the Skilled Migrant Employment Register may be withdrawn.

  • WA Migration Services reserves the right to amend or withdraw registrations at any time.  

  • Becoming a registered migrant does not guarantee an offer of employment, or that an employer will connect with you.

  • If you receive an invitation from an employer to connect, and no action is taken within 10 calendar days, the invitation may be withdrawn.

  • Registered migrants who are reported as not contactable multiple times, may be withdrawn from the Skilled Migrant Employment Register.

  • Incomplete registrations will be withdrawn 24 days from commencement.

  • You must currently have or intend to gain the right to work in Western Australia.

  • Your visa may include specific conditions relating to your working rights. It is your responsibility to understand these conditions.

  • If you intend to apply for a skilled visa, it is your responsibility to ensure you can meet the Department of Home Affairs visa criteria, including any age requirements for your desired visa.

  • Visa holders can use Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO)(opens in a new tab) to check current visa conditions, or contact the Department of Home Affairs.

  • If you hold a current Australian visa, you authorise WA Migration Services to validate your details through Visa Entitlement Verification Online

Terms and conditions for Employers

By completing a registration for the Skilled Migrant Employment Register you confirm you represent a registered business and intend to fill employment vacancies within Western Australia.

  • Registration for the Skilled Migrant Employment Register must be submitted via the Migration WA portal.

  • Providing false or misleading information may result in your registration being withdrawn.

  • Registrations that are deemed not to align with the purpose of the Skilled Migrant Employer Register may be withdrawn.

  • WA Migration Services reserves the right to amend or withdraw registrations at any time.

  • Invitations you issue to connect with a registered migrant may be withdrawn in 10 calendar days, if the migrant does not undertake any action.

  • Incomplete registrations will be withdrawn 24 days from commencement.
